Notice Our Waters

Overview

Notice Our Waters is a long-term Colorado watershed monitoring initiative focused on increasing awareness, transparency, and understanding of the environmental conditions affecting the waterways that support our communities, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.

How It Works

Through routine sample collection and environmental testing during seasonal runoff events, varying river flows, and changing watershed conditions, the program aims to build a growing database of environmental information across Colorado’s diverse water ecosystems. The goal is to help establish long-term environmental baselines, identify trends, and provide publicly accessible information that supports informed stewardship of Colorado’s rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, and mountain watersheds.

Setting Expectations

Data collected through Notice Our Waters will be published through Nurture Our Wilderness and shared with partners, communities, and stakeholders to encourage education, transparency, and long-term protection of the natural resources that make Colorado’s outdoor experiences possible.

The Benefits

Healthy watersheds are essential to healthy communities. By increasing awareness and expanding access to environmental information, Notice Our Waters works to support a future where Colorado’s waterways remain understood, valued, and protected for generations to come.
