President and Executive Director
Serves as President and Executive Director of Nurture Our Wilderness, bringing the perspective of an entrepreneur, outdoorsman, and visionary to the organization’s mission. Fully grounded in community involvement, Michael is focused on reducing environmental impacts from outdoor recreation through practical, sustainable, and tangible solutions. Beginning in a grassroots snowboard shop as an employee and buyer, he developed a clear understanding of how brands influence environmental responsibility and consumer behavior. Along the way, he has remained involved in community initiatives and nonprofits dedicated to environmental stewardship. As the founder of a snowboard brand focused on environmental responsibility, a mentor to aspiring entrepreneurs, and a devoted family man, Michael leads NOW with a vision centered on consumer education, driving meaningful industry change, and recognizing organizations that demonstrate responsible, forward-thinking environmental practices.
David Labarbara
Vice President
David LaBarbara serves as Vice President for Nurture Our Wilderness, bringing a blend of outdoor leadership, community involvement, and industry experience that directly supports NOW’s mission to protect watersheds from chemicals and other harmful pollutants. He has spent nearly a decade teaching snowboarding at Winter Park Resort and also has served as Head Brewer for Evergreen Brewery, where he partnered with the Mountain Area Land Trust on conservation-focused fundraising efforts making experiences that shaped his understanding of how recreation, industry, and land stewardship intersect. Now working in the oil and gas industry, David advocates for responsible environmental practices and practical, sustainable solutions from within the field. An avid hiker, snowboarder, camper, and cross-country skier, he is deeply connected to the landscapes that inspire him and driven to help ensure the waters and wild places we rely on remain protected for generations to come.
Jonas Warren
Secretary
Serves as Secretary on Board of Directors for Nurture Our Wilderness, combining his experience as a small business owner along with lifelong passion for the outdoors. Jonas is fully committed to supporting the mission of keeping our waterways clean. Being devoted to the wilderness as a camper, fisherman, and hiker, Jonas believes everyone plays a part in protecting the natural places we enjoy. His commitment to responsible recreation and community stewardship drives his work to ensure our waterways remain healthy for generations to come.
